Hydrographic Institute participates in the pollution control exercise “ATLANTIC POLEX.PT 2017
The Hydrographic Institute (IH) will participate in the pollution combat exercise “ATLANTIC POLEX.PT 2017” that will take place in the coming days 18 and 19 October in Vila Real de Santo António.
This exercise takes place each year with the involvement of bodies of the Directorate-General of the Maritime Authority, Maritime Police, R&D centres and companies at national and international level. The IH will be represented by a team from the Division of Chemistry and Pollution of the Marine Environment.
On the 18th, the IH team will present a lecture on the sampling, analysis and identification of correlations with samples of potential polluters during the seminar on “Preservation of the Marine Environment”, taking place in this exercise. On the 19th, you will participate in the various scenarios, one on the offshore and four on the coastal zone, to collect samples at the site of the “polluting stain”.
