Hydrographic Institute participated in the WRIC international event Oceans 2014

The Hydrographic Institute participated in the international event WRIC Oceans 2014 - World Research and Innovation Congress – Oceans.

It took place on 15 and 16 October at the Lisbon Oceanarium, different workshops, discussion panels and scientific presentations focused on the debate on the future of research, policies and the sea economy.

Global leaders in the fields of research and global ocean protection policies have gathered to rethink the challenges facing the principal players in these areas, given the threats and opportunities that the exploitation of this natural resource entails.

The IH was represented by Mr. Admiral Seabra de Melo, Director General, Commander Freitas Gunner, Director-technician, and 1TEN Lent dos Santos. TEN Lent presented an oral communication on the research and development activity of the IH, focused on supporting naval operations and maritime authority, and how this capacity has been profitable to support Portugal in the observation and permanent prediction of the Portuguese sea.
