EMSA Course Hydrographic Institute on sampling procedures for petroleum products

The first training on Oil Spill Sampling under Consultative Technical Group for Marine Pollution Preparedness and Response (CTG MPPR) was prepared by the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) for 19-20 September.
This course was attended by the TS Catarina Rocha, of the Division of Chemistry and Pollution of the Marine Environment, which has been carrying out chemical analyses of samples taken in incidents of pollution by petroleum products and contributing as a trainer, together with the Marine Pollution Combat Service of the General Directorate of Maritime Authority, in the course of collecting samples of illicit marine pollution for maritime police officers.

This course was based on a theoretical component, where the sampling procedures to be applied in numerous situations and the presentation of sampling kits used by different European laboratories were focused, as well as a strong practical component where it was possible to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired.
