Hydrographic Institute performs Virtual Exercise “Oil Spill”

From 21 to 25 September, the Virtual Exercise "Oil Spill" will take place in the coastal range between Vigo and Leixões, enhanced by the Portuguese Navy Hydrographic Institute (IH), in partnership with the Instituto Tecnolóxico para o Controlo do Medio Mariño da Galicia (INTECMAR) and Centro Tecnológico del Mar de Vigo (CETMAR).

The “Oil Spill” exercise is a simulation of a fuel spill, carried out through drifters, and aims to demonstrate the relevance of the tools developed from the MELOA, RADAR-ON-RAIA and MYCOAST projects. By combining the actions of the three projects, it will be possible to compare and validate the drift forecasts of the polluting agents.
