Hydrographic Institute Hosts 1st GOOS/EOOS Meeting
The Hydrographic Institute (IH) hosted the 1st Meeting of the Global Ocean Observing System/European Ocean Observing System (GOOS/EOOS) yesterday, April 23.
The hybrid-format event was opened by the Director-General of the Hydrographic Institute, Rear Admiral Ramalho Marreiros, and the President of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, Professor Dr. Luís Menezes Pinheiro.
The main goals of the meeting were to inform the national community about the work carried out under GOOS, EOOS, and the national representation groups in the IOC, as well as to showcase some of the ocean observation capabilities currently in place in Portugal.
The meeting also served as a platform for interaction among various national stakeholders involved in ocean observation — including research institutions, academia, the business sector, and the Navy — fostering future discussions and coordination efforts.
