Hydrographic Institute and Foundation of the House of Bragança conclude Protocol and Agreement for Cultural Cooperation

With a view to strengthening institutional relations within the framework of Portuguese cultural and scientific heritage, the signing of the “Protocol for Cooperation and Exchange in the fields of Culture and Cultural and Cultural Heritage” and its “Specific Agreement in the field of Portuguese Cartographic Heritage” took place on 1 October, concluded between the Casa de Bragança Foundation (FCB) and the Hydrographic Institute (HI).

This joint initiative is intended to stimulate the exploration, comparative study, knowledge and dissemination of the respective cartographic funds, in particular the collections of Portuguese military and nautical cartography or Portugal, of FCB.

The signing ceremony of the Protocol and Agreement took place in the Palace of Vila Viçosa, and the program contemplated a cultural visit to this historic residence of the Dukes of Bragança. On the same occasion, the exhibition “500 years of Camões” was presented, which covers a exhibition of bibliographic rarities of the Camionian Collection of the last King of Portugal, D. Manuel II.

The FCB was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. João Azevedo, the Administrator, Dr. Francisco Dias, the director of the Library Museum of the House of Bragança, Dr. Ana Saraiva, and the Deputy Director, Dr. Vicente Fino.

The IH was attended by the General Director, Rear Admiral Ramalho Marreiros, accompanied by the Superior Technique of the Division of Documentation and Culture, Dr. Filipa Candeias.
