Hydrographic Institute present at the 25th General Assembly of EuroGOOS
On 8 and 9 May, the Hydrographic Institute (IH) was present at the 25th General Assembly of the European Global Ocean Observing System – EuroGOOS (http://eurogoos. me/), in Heraklion - Crete, organized by the Hellenic Marine Research Centre.
The meeting was attended by members from 18 countries and more than 25 institutions and had as main topics the integration and evolution of the organization, as well as the strategy to be adopted for the decade 2020-2030.
EuroGOOS is an informal association between bodies of the European States founded in 1994 to meet the objectives of GOOS (Global Ocean Observing System), the Global Ocean Observation System, and in particular, to develop Operational Oceanography in the European seas and adjacent oceans.
The existence of this non-governmental organization allows for greater proximity between institutions and channels the needs and concerns to the high government bodies with one voice.
The IH joined EUROGOOS in 2008.
