Hydrographic Institute participates in the Workshop “Living the Douro safer”

On 20 March, the Hydrographic Institute, represented by the Director General, Rear Admiral Coelho Cândido, participated in the Workshop entitled “Living the Douro more safely”, which took place in the city of Porto, where he presented the nautical cartography project of Via Navigável. Integrated in the “Douro’s Inland Waterway 2020”, action under the management of the Douro Port Administration, Leixões and Viana do Castelo (APPL), this project is essential for strengthening the safety and management conditions of navigation.

This initiative, promoted by the National Maritime Authority, in collaboration with the Navy, namely Hydrographic Institute, and with the LAPD, was attended by the Minister of National Defense, Prof. Dr. José Azeredo Lopes, Minister of the Sea, Eng.a Ana Paula Vitorino, Mayor of Porto, Dr. Rui Moreira, Secretary of State for National Defense, Dr. Marcos Perestrello, Chief of Staff of the Navy and National Maritime Authority, Admiral António Silva Ribeiro, Director General of the Maritime Authority and Commander General of the Maritime Police, Vice Admiral Luís Sousa Pereira, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of APDL, Eng.o Brògueira Dias, among other participating entities.
