Hydrographic Institute welcomes the 6th edition of the PiE Conference – Particles in Europe

The 6th edition of the PiE – Particles in Europe Conference will take place on 14-17 October 2018 at the premises of the Hydrographic Institute (IH) in Lisbon.

The Particles in Europe or PiE conferences are biannual events on the measurement, monitoring and management of granulometry and in-situ concentration of sediments in aquatic environments, bringing together experts from various fields with a common interest in particle dynamics, in informal meetings of exchange of ideas and information.

The IH will receive renowned scientists in the area of acoustic sediment detection, including Dr. Yogi Agrawal, responsible for the PiE conferences and author of several articles in international journals in the field of particle analysis by optical and acoustic methods.

This event will feature speakers from various nationalities: Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom and USA.

These meetings are always organised by Sequoia Scientific (based in the state of Washington, USA, and responsible for the development of LIST technology, among others) and a local organizer in Europe. In this issue, and after an online vote promoted by Sequoia, Portugal was chosen as host country and the IH as a welcoming entity of this conference.
