IH signs Cooperation Protocol with the Interdisciplinary Marine and Environmental Research Centre for Technical and Scientific Cooperation
On 20 March, during the initiative “Living the Douro more safely”, held in Porto, the Cooperation Protocol between the Hydrographic Institute (HI) and the Interdisciplinary Center for Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR) for Technical and Scientific Cooperation was signed.
This Protocol aims to facilitate the development of activities of mutual interest, in particular those related to the marine environment, involving research, development and innovation (ID&I), training and dissemination of knowledge.
In this act he signed by the IH the Director-General, Rear Admiral Coelho Cândido, and by the CIIMAR, the President of the CIIMAR, Vítor Vasconcelos, and the Board Member, Luis Castro.
The purpose of the Hydrographic Institute is to ensure the research and technological development activities related to the sciences and techniques of the sea, with a view to their priority application in naval military operations, in particular in the areas of hydrography, hydrographic mapping, safety of navigation, oceanography and defence of the marine environment.
The Interdisciplinary Centre for Marine and Environmental Research, an institution for scientific research and advanced training at the University of Porto, is responsible for the development of excellent research, the promotion of technological development and support for public policies in the field of marine and environmental sciences.
