IH receives National Defense Day announcers - 2017

In the framework of the Navy's participation in the Training of National Defense Day promoters, the Hydrographic Institute (IH) received, on December 21, 2017, about 30 military personnel from the three Armed Forces Branches, accompanied by Commander Marcelo Correia, Chief of the Recruitment and Navy Selection Division.

After welcoming Commander Mesquita Onofre, Technical Director of the IH, the group of promoters attended the institutional film and a talk alluding to the theme Continental Platform Extension. Then, they passed through the divisions of the Technical Directorate, where they could exchange information about the existing capabilities in the areas of Navigation, Oceanography, Hydrography, Geographic Information Systems, Chemistry and Marine Geology, which contribute to the knowledge of the sea.

The visit ended with a passage from the School of Hydrography and Oceanography, the only one in Portugal and the few worldwide with internationally recognized hydrography courses that form qualified professionals, in the most advanced and increasingly effective methods in the study of the sea.
