IH present at a meeting of the IALA ARM Committee
It took place in Saint-Germain-en-Laye (France) from 23 to 27 November 2015, the third meeting of the International Maritime Signaling Association (IALA) Committee of the AtoN Requirements and Management (ARM). The national representation was ensured by the Hydrographic Institute, associate member, and the Head of Lights, national member.
The purpose of the ARM Committee is to create doctrine within the framework of the definition of user requirements and management of entities responsible for the maintenance, operation and development of Navigation Aids and Navigation Systems.
During the meeting a number of issues were addressed with regard to the safety of navigation and corresponding maritime marking, highlighting the work on the management of the maritime space, the relevant actions to recover a waterway after a disaster and the marking in protected areas.
Work carried out during the week resulted in working documents, transiting to the next meeting, and final documents, to be sent to other external committees and organisations for consideration and approval.
The fourth meeting of the ARM Committee is scheduled for the period from 18 to 22 April 2016 in the same city.
