IH participates in Portuguese Days of Coastal and Port Engineering
The Portuguese Coastal and Port Engineering Days, organized by the Portuguese delegation of the PIANC (The World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure), constitute a reference event in the context of national coastal engineering.
The eighth edition of the Days took place at the Congress Centre of the National Laboratory of Civil Engineering I.P. on October 10 and 11, 2013.
A series of works in the area of coastal and port engineering were presented at these Days which showed the quality and quantity of the much that is done in Portugal, allowing the debate of its contents, the exchange of experiences and the establishment of new partnerships and contacts.
At this meeting, the captain-in-fragnate Freitas Gunner, as President of the Scientific Committee, Lieutenant Captain Delgado Vicente and First Lieutenant Antunes Nunes were present, who presented a communication on the theme “Hydrographic elevations with decimetric uncertainty?”. This communication revealed the advantages of using the Real Time Kinematic positioning system (RTK) and sound propagation speed profilers along the Moving Vessel Profiler (MVP) water column.
