The Hydrographic Institute participated in the 5th meeting of the S-100WG Working Group of the International Hydrographic Organization (OHI) which took place from March 3 to 6 in Taunton - UK. This working group (S-100WG) is dedicated to developing the specifications for the new “S-100 Universal Hydrographic Data Model” hydrographic data model (https://iho. int/en/s-100-universal-hydrographic-data-model).
The S-100 is a non-exclusive data structure for the next generation of Navigation Electronic Charter (CEN) and as a standard it is a structured document for the development of products and services for water, navigation and information systems communities in accordance with ISO/TEC211 standards.
The general objectives of this meeting, among others more specific, were the new edition of S-100 specifications and associated products (https://iho. int/en/s-100-based-product-specifications) such as the S-101 (CEN) and S-102 (Baptimetric Areas) and the operationalisation of the S-101 ENC taking into account the strategy for the implementation of the S-100.
It should be noted that the start of the provision of S-100 services by hydrographic services is planned for 2023.
