Hydrographic survey in the Northern Cachopo, Duck Head and Bugio Golada

The Hydrographic Brigade has been conducting a Hydrographic Survey since November 18, 2019 at the Head of the Duck and Golada of Bugio in order to obtain updated hydrographic information.

The work is part of the inter-administrative contract between the Porto de Lisboa Administration, S.A. (APL) and the Hydrographic Institute.

In this campaign two trina-type waterboats equipped with a simple beam probe system are engaged. They are operated by several survey teams, consisting of a survey director and a boat master, who are taking turns in order to optimize the time available for survey.

This hydrographic survey is carried out periodically at the mouth of the river Tejo, an area of great complexity of the elements: meteorological and oceanographic conditions (metoc), river current, tidal current, large depth amplitude (-1.5 to 20 meters), with many port works and short bursts.

These complexities require careful and timely planning of the survey, especially in the monitoring of metoc conditions and monitoring of tidal height.

Still, there are certain areas in the survey that have polling wires that are only feasible during the seaside upholstery and with perfect sea conditions.
