A new AQUIMAR campaign began

The Hydrographic Institute has launched another sediment sampling mission for the AQUIMAR – Marine Knowledge Supporting Aquaculture project, funded by the Mar2020 Programme.

The objective of this project is to characterize oceanographic, physicochemical, geochemical and biological conditions to optimize the selection of sites for the implementation of aquaculture units, and the energy efficiency of cultivated species, as well as to evaluate the feasibility of introducing new species of cultivation and estimating the productive capacity of each site.

The mission began on May 18, 2020, aboard the NRP Andromeda and will extend until June 8 covering two distinct areas, Figueira da Foz until Aveiro and Peniche.
