IMAR Expedition in Large SIC Reporting

It will air tonight, around 8:45 p.m., the Great SIC Report on, among other things, the Deep Sea of the Azores. This report will include images of the iMAR expedition, in which the Hydrographic Institute had active participation.

The main objective of the iMAR expedition was to map the seabed along the Mid-Atlantic Dorsal in the Azores region and to characterize their communities of fish, corals and sponges. It intended to acquire scientific information for the development of policies that promote the preservation of natural heritage, ensuring the sustainable use of the deep sea, minimizing the negative impacts on such vulnerable ecosystems.
