EATHC Closes another working period in Lisbon
Today, the sixteenth plenary session of the Eastern Atlantic Hydrographic Commission (EAtHC) of the International Hydrographic Organization (OHI), currently chaired by Portugal, ended through the Director General of the Hydrographic Institute, Rear Admiral Ventura Soares. This meeting, which began on 29 September, brought together the most diverse coastal countries of the Eastern Atlantic, as well as representatives of the OHI and the Hydrographic Services of the countries with nautical cartography responsibilities in this region, the first being in hybrid format (presence and videoconference).
On this last day, in addition to the closure of the work, with the formal definition of future actions to be carried out either by EAHC or by the nations involved, the signature of the statutes of EAHC by the Democratic Republic of Congo, a member of OHI, is also important.
The Director General of the Hydrographic Institute and President of EAHC closed this plenary session stressing that the objectives of this meeting have been achieved. Having also highlighted the presence of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is now also a Member of EATHC, and the format of the current meeting that will be held in future editions, where physical presence is of great importance, for the informed discussion of the most diverse subjects, but where virtual and distance participation also allows other member states to be present.
The next plenary session of the EAtHC is planned for September 2022.
