Director-General of the Hydrographic Institute visits Cape Verde
He went to Cape Verde, more precisely to Mindelo on the island of São Vicente, the Director General of the Hydrographic Institute, Rear Admiral Carlos Ventura Soares. The visit, which took place from 15 to 17 November, took place simultaneously with the presence of the NRP “D.Carlos I” in that port, on a mission under the initiative “Open Sea 2021”, where it carried out extensive oceanographic work in Cape Verdean waters.
Rear Admiral Ventura Soares had the opportunity to visit the capabilities of the Cape Verde Coast Guard, to establish contacts with the Port Maritime Institute (IMP), long-standing partner of the IH, and with ENAPOR (port authority). After being received by the Cape Verdean Sea Minister, Dr. Paulo Veiga, signed a protocol for exchange and technical cooperation with the Cape Verdean Sea Institute (IMAR), at the ceremony represented by its President, Dr. Malik Lopes.
The commitment of the IH to the safety of navigation in Cape Verde in the last 17 years, in close collaboration with the IMP, allows this country to present today an extensive and updated nautical cartography, which we are proud of, Portuguese and Cape Verdean.
