World Day for Physical Activity

World Day for Physical Activity is celebrated this Sunday, April 6.

Regular physical activity brings countless health benefits. It contributes to well-being, improves quality of life, supports weight loss, promotes mental health, and helps prevent various diseases and injuries, including work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs).

Recognizing the importance of physical activity in the workplace, the Hydrographic Institute (IH) holds weekly Workplace Gymnastics classes, led by Chief Marine Sergeant Eduardo Mestre (Retired), a former Physical Education instructor in the Portuguese Navy. These classes include various physical activities such as step, body combat, functional training, pilates, yoga, cross training, among others.

IH also offers a gym accessible to everyone, available 24 hours a day, equipped with machines and training equipment.
