World Day of Struggle Against Mama's Cancer
This Saturday, October 19, is the World Day for the Fight against Breast Cancer.
According to the Portuguese League Against Cancer, in 2022, it is estimated that some 9,000 women in Portugal have been diagnosed with breast cancer and that more than 2,000 have died because of this disease.
This is also a disease that does not choose gender, as data indicate that 1 in every 100 cases of breast cancer occurs in men.
Nevertheless, an early diagnosis has a cure rate greater than 90%.
On October 15 the Hydrographic Institute (IH) received the lecture “Rosa October”. This cycle of awareness-raising lectures, organized by the Navy through the Office for Gender Perspective and Naval Medicine Center, aimed to discuss this disease, as well as to raise awareness and alert to regular screening.
