Data Collection and Sedimentary Sampling Campaign at S.Torpes Beach - Sines

A multidisciplinary team of the Hydrographic Institute conducted on 14 and 21 March a campaign to collect oceanographic data and sedimentary samples to monitor the evolution of the coastal zone adjacent to the Port of Sines, in particular at S. Torpes Beach.

During this campaign a structure with two current profilers and a measuring probe of concentration and granulometry of suspended matter was merged. A stream was also installed to acquire data during a tidal cycle. Sediment samples were collected along various profiles perpendicular to the beach break line.

These multidisciplinary campaigns will take place regularly over the next 5 years.
