Course at the Institute Hydrography and Oceanography School Once Again Recognized Internationally

The Hydrography Technician Course, taught by the School of Hydrography and Oceanography of the Hydrographic Institute, has once again been recognized by the International Board on Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors and Nautical Cartographers (IBSC), which operates under the auspices of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), and the International Cartographic Association (ICA), for meeting the requirements established for Category “B” of the respective standards of competence.

The School of Hydrography and Oceanography of the Hydrographic Institute submitted an application to the IBSC and, after being evaluated according to international standards of competence, received an international certificate of recognition in May of this year. This certificate attests that the Hydrography Technician Course meets the required technical and pedagogical standards.

The certificate is valid for a period of six years, allowing the Hydrography Technician Course to continue the recognition pathway that began in 1984, the year the first certificate was issued.

The course is primarily attended by military personnel as part of the Specialization Course in Hydrography for Navy Sergeants, but it is also open to the civilian community, subject to available slots.
