Commemorative Letter of the Fifth Centenary of the Circum-Navigation Trip - 2019

As part of the celebrations of the V Centenary of the Circum-navigation Tour of Magellan and Elcano the Navy joined the program through the development of several projects.

One of the projects, under the coordination of the Hydrographic Institute, consisted in the preparation of a letter commemorating the trip, whose historical component was coordinated with the Naval Research Center of the Naval School and the History Center of the University of Lisbon.

In this context, on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the start Sanlúcar de Barrameda of the armada commanded by the Portuguese navigator Fernão de Magalhães (20 September 1519) the Mission Structure for the Celebrations of the Fifth Centenary of the Circum-Navigation, in the context of the celebrations, will promote in partnership with the Jornal Expresso, the distribution of a version of the Commemorative Letter in the edition of 21 September 2019.
