Collaboration with Colombia’s Hydrography Course

The Hydrographic Institute (IH) through its School of Hydrography and Oceanography (EHO) has had a collaboration program with the Naval Escuela de Cadetes “Admiral Padilha” (ENAP), Colombia.

After the advice provided in the international recognition process of its Hydrography course with category A, the highest, ENAP requested collaboration in conducting a workshop that took place in Cartagena das Indies in December 2018 on the implementation of hydrography courses.

Continuing this collaboration, ENAP asked the IH for support to teach some core modules of its course. To meet the request, the IH established a collaborative strategy that consists of sending two teachers, for two weeks each, to teach classes in Colombia and an internship to be held at the IH.

Between November 19 and 29, 2019, following the collaboration program, the ten students of the ENAP Hydrography course attended an internship in the IH, which focused mainly on the teaching of practical components of hydrographic surveys, complementing the theoretical subjects previously taught in Colombia by a hydrograph officer of the IH.
