Celebrating the centenary of the Degree in Geographic Engineering

On the occasion of the centennial celebrations of the creation of the Geographic Engineering Degree, on October 22, the official release of the book “100 Years of Geographic Engineering” was held at a ceremony held at the premises of the Order of Engineers (OE). For this book the IH contributed with an institutional article, at the invitation of the Bastonário da OE and with a technical specialty article by Paula Sanches and Leonor Veiga.

Also in the context of the celebrations, a Solemn Session was held at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon organized in a partnership with the OE with more than a hundred participants, including the main entities/institutions linked to this professional area. The program of this session included the testimony of the institutions, including the Hydrographic Institute, and geographers, geospatial engineers trained by the Faculty of Sciences of the Universities of Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra.
