SEDMAR Campaign Phase II

After the completion of Phase I of the SEDMAR Continent/Search ADCP campaign, which culminated in the rescue of a structure with oceanographic equipment that was lost off S. Torpes, the NRP “Auriga” headed further north, to continue its mission.

Phase II includes the collection of about a hundred representative samples from the seabed of the mid and internal platform between Cabo Espichel and Cabo Carvoeiro.

The samples will be subsequently analyzed and interpreted with a view to updating knowledge about the marine environment in the coastal ocean. Already carried out more than half of the planned samples, the work has been characterized by the commitment of all involved (on board and in ground support), in a constant effort to resume operational activity and overcome the constraints imposed by the particular situation we live in.
