Hydrographic Brigade starts top-hydrographic survey in the Azores Archipelago.
The Hydrographic Brigade began on July 10, 2019 a top-hydrographic survey in the central group of the Azores Archipelago.
This work is part of a partnership between the Hydrographic Institute and the Regional Government of the Azores, with the main objective of obtaining updated hydrographic information from the islands of São Jorge, Pico and Faial, between 200 meters deep and coast.
This survey will be carried out on board the vessel “Águas Vivas”, the Regional Government of the Azores. The “Live Waters” will be equipped with a sophisticated multi-beam probe system of the Hydrographic Institute, whose ability to acquire high quality data allows to generate high resolution batimetric models.
In this mission they participate: a hydrographer, a hydrography technician, a boatmaster, a equipment maintenance technician and the garrison of the “Live Waters” (two people).
