Bilateral meeting between the Instituto Hydrográfico de la Marina de Spain and the IH

Between 24 and 25 October 2019, the bilateral meeting between the Instituto Hydrográfico de la Marina de Spain (IHM) and the IH was held at the Hydrográfico Institute (IH). The main objective of this annual meeting is to plan and define cooperation actions, continuing cooperation between the two institutes.  

The defined actions aim to share knowledge, procedures and experience, in order to improve the response capacity in the activities under their responsibility, as well as the optimization of available resources and consequent reduction of expenditure, in works carried out in areas of common interest.

As a good example, joint and complementary hydrographic works on the Guadiana and Minho rivers have enabled the co-production of the nautical charter of Foz do Guadiana and the planning of a new edition of the nautical charter of Foz do Minho.

Other topics, such as specialized training, or actions within the representation of states in the Hydrographic Regions of the International Hydrographic Organization, were also considered issues that strengthen the good relations of cooperation between institutes and of great importance in their activities.
