Hydrographic Survey in the Arsenal of the Alfite

The Hydrographic Brigade carried out a hydrographic survey in Arsenal do Alfeite, in the access channel and basin of Doca Seca, as well as in the dock area.

This work resulted from the request of Arsenal do Alfeite, S.A., in the context of dredging processes of the mentioned area.

As far as the Portuguese Navy is concerned. the guarantee of certain depths, in the areas scanned, allows the yard to ensure the repair of larger ships (larger and quieter lengths), such as the frigates of the Vasco da Gama class and the frigates of the Bartolomeu Dias class,

This survey was carried out with the Mergulhão waterboat, equipped with the EM2040C multi-beam probe system whose ability to acquire high quality data allows generating high resolution batimetric models, enabling a detailed characterization of the background.

Two hydrographers, an equipment maintenance technician and a boat master participated in this mission.

An area of 0.24 km2 was conducted 35.61 km, ensuring a special survey according to the international standards in force.
