Illuminating the coast, to help navigate, there are not only headlights...

There are about 2000 aids to navigation, such as lighthouses, lighthouses, buoys and beacons to illuminate both the seaside and the interior of the ports of Portugal, and they all have a name.

This aid is represented in nautical cartography and is described in detail in a publication edited by the Hydrographic Institute, the List of Lights, Beams, Beams and Fog Signs.

With regard to the safety of navigation, when abnormal behaviour of these aids is recorded, such as changes in their luminous characteristics, positioning or removal and/or placement of new aids, these situations are disclosed more urgently from the Notices to Coastal and Local Navigation. Subsequently, and if the situation reported remains in place, it will appear at the end of the month in the warning groups to the Navigants.

We remember that the List of Lights, Boas, Lights and Lights, in addition to nautical cartography, it is updated from the information contained in the Notices to Navigantes so this publication should be regularly consulted.

If it was at sea that God mirrored the sky as he idealized Fernando Pessoa, then the lights of navigational aids are the stars.
