42nd Standing Bilateral Commission Portugal – USA
The 42nd meeting of the Standing Bilateral Commission (CBP) between Portugal and the United States of America (USA) was held in Lisbon on December 17.
The 42nd CBP was chaired jointly by the Director General of Foreign Policy, Magdalena Fischer, and the Acting Deputy Secretary for Western Europe, Shawn Crowley, and joined the Ambassador of Portugal in the US, Domingos Fesas Vital, the US Ambassador to Portugal, George Glass, and the President of the Azores Regional Government, Vasco Cordeiro.
It was a CBP with an agenda focused on strategic issues of common interest, such as the Atlantic Alliance, Maritime Security and the "investment screening". The parties recalled the close cooperation between Portugal and the US on security and defence. Greeting the results of the London Leaders Summit (3 and 4 December), they reaffirmed the essential and irreplaceable role of the Atlantic Alliance, as well as their respective commitments and contributions within the framework of NATO.
