SUB-ECO

The SUB-ECO project aims to develop an acoustic surveillance system, off the Portuguese continental margin, from the MONIZEE network and the operational capacity to predict ocean circulation implemented at the Hydrographic Institute.
The aim is to consolidate skills in the field of underwater acoustics in building a submarine noise monitoring network along the Portuguese continental margin and in integrating passive listening hydrophones into the multiparametric buoy network. MONIZE.
Monitoring of underwater noise caused by marine/submarine anthropogenic activities (generating alerts when this noise exceeds critical values) and the development of an operational numerical module for forecasting the propagation of underwater acoustic noise will also be carried out.
