SMART

This project aimed to establish a new paradigm in the study of the distribution of floating plastics. SMART it is a framework based on artificial intelligence, which combines the automatic identification and classification of floating plastics through satellite images, with high resolution space-temporal modeling to identify areas of accumulation of plastic and machine learning to combine information and create maps of probability of occurrence of marine waste. The validation of the final product will be carried out using sensors mounted on autonomous vehicles (ASV).
