Douro's Inland Waterway 2020

The project Douro's Inland Waterway 2020 it was created to improve the navigability conditions of the Douro waterway, reinforcing security, optimizing the communications system and creating new ways for more companies to use the river as a means of transport.

Under this project, the Hydrographic Institute is responsible for the production of the official hydrographic cartography of the Douro Navigable Way (210 Km), and the following tasks were completed:

• Top-hydrographic lifting;
• support for redefinition of the navigation channel path;
• Design of river marking;
• Real-time observation and diffusion system study of instantaneous water height;
• production of nautical mapping of the river series (paper and digital);
• Monitoring and positioning improvement study.

The nautical cartography of the river is already available.
