Ocean Current Forecast System Based on High Frequency Radar Data and Artificial Intelligence

This project aims to develop a short-term forecast of surface currents using high-frequency radar (HF) network data and “Machine Learning” techniques. The forecast product can be used for various purposes, in particular to calculate the drift of objects on the ocean surface in the coverage regions of the HF radars (Lisboa and Algarve), regions with great occurrence of search and rescue requests.
