Hydrographic Institute Receives Talk “Blue Carbon on the Portuguese Continental Coast”

As part of the existing protocol between the Hydrographic Institute (IH) and the University of Algarve, the IH received yesterday, May 14, Professor Rui Santos, coordinator of the ALGAE Research Group - Ecology of Marine Plants of the Sea Science Center of the University of Algarve.

The aim of the visit was to strengthen the existing collaboration between the two institutions with regard to data sharing and knowledge of the coastal ecosystems still little known, with a view to assessing their potential for carbon sequestration and storage in marine sediments. On this subject, Professor Rui Santos gave a talk entitled “Blue Carbon on the Portuguese Continental Coast”.
